Tastes of NY

NY is such a rich place for different cuisines – American, Italian, French, and even Asian food.

New York pizza
No wonder why the NY pizza is so famous worldwide – it’s phenomenal! I like how it has a thin crust and the ingredients are so fresh and tasty, it tastes more like a ball of melted cheese than a slice of pizza, actually. I tried Joe’s pizza in Greenwich but I heard that Lombardi’s and Grimaldi’s are also good. A slice is $2.75, same as a subway ride.

Pastries
Birthplace of the cronut, Dominique Ansel’s bakery is a small shop in the West Village. The cronut, a love child of the croissant and the donut, sells out fast. So if you want to try a piece, be prepared to line up early. They also sell yummy mini cakes and sandwiches. We ordered the pear-flavored one and it tasted really refreshing!

NY hotdogs
This is the type that you can see in street kiosks. Actually, they’re really more of a snack when you’re trying to escape the hunger pangs, than a yummy snack. They’re not good and they’re quite small. They retail for $2-3 so I guess you really can’t expect much since everything in this city is so expensive.

Mastro’s Steakhouse
If you’re sightseeing near Fifth Ave., Rockefeller, and the NBC tower, I suggest you have a meal at Mastro’s. The steak is pretty good and lobster mashed potato is to die for! The butter cake is also really yummy and is served with vanilla ice cream.
Address: 1285 6th Ave.

Junior’s cheesecake
Dubbed as New York's best cheesecake, this did not disappoint! It's not like anything I've ever tasted - the cheese is tart enough but it's also creamy and fluffy at the same time. It's perfect!

Eggplant pasta
We had this eggplant pasta at Rafele restaurant in the West Village, and it was superb! I usually don't like eggplant but it tasted like lasagna with a refreshing twist.

Here are the other food snaps that I took
