My Coldplay Experience

Ever since I was in high school, I always wanted to watch a Coldplay concert. So when they announced that they were going to tour Asia, I was ecstatic! When there were rumors a few years ago that they might break up, I vowed to myself that I have to watch them live. Fortunately though, the ticket prices in Singapore were almost just a third of the prices in Manila! The organizers explained that this was the case because the venue in Manila can only accommodate a fraction of the other venues so they had to jack up the prices. Anyway, I still commend the organizers for even trying to bring the band here - at least people have choices.

Anyway, back to my Coldplay experience! It was so surreal! Days after the concert, I am still on a Coldplay high. I can't believe it's finally over. I even joked how the experience was so life-changing that I can now quit my life as I've reached self-actualization LOL.

Getting tickets was no easy feat. Lucky for me, my friend who's based in Singapore, spent the night falling in line just to get tickets! They were prioritized over online buyers so were lucky enough to get Standing Pen A tickets! It's the first section but it's also a free standing area so we also made sure to fall in in line really early on the day itself just to make sure that we'd get a good spot. The concert was at 8 pm but we were at the National Stadium as early as 12:30 pm! We took turns buying food, going to the toilet, and such. It's also not easy to cut the line there - they had barricades and whenever you leave, you'd have to get stamped.

It actually rained really hard around 4 pm which got us a bit wet - we didn't bring umbrellas since the rules said we couldn't but we should have brought disposable raincoats like some did. Lesson learned! So yeah, despite the heat, intense humidity, and the rain, we still held our ground and held on to our spot in the line. I think Coldplay is the only band I'll sacrifice this much for. Hahaha!

They were doing the soundcheck at around 5 pm already so it was comforting to hear because we were already so tired. They opened the gates at 6 pm and we ran! We were disappointed that we weren't in the first row. VIP ticket holders, who entered 30 minutes before us, already occupied the first and second rows. But at least we didn't pay extra and we got a great view still!

After entering, we didn't leave our spot. I even joked that it's so hard being a fanatic and at times like this, we should have just worn diapers! Hahaha! The show started on time, at 8 pm and OMG I JUST CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HAPPY I FELT HUHUHU!

I never really understood how people cry at concerts but boy, did I ugly cry for a few seconds. I FINALLY SAW THEM IN THE FLESH!

It was really a dream come true!

I actually downloaded their setlist a few days before the concert so I already knew which songs they were going to play but they tweaked it a bit. They sang 'Something Like This' which wasn't included in the original setlist.

They sang 'Yellow' as their second song and they had confetti already! The set design was..obviously yellow hehe.

I think they released confetti 5-6 times during the entire concert. I wonder how much they weigh all in all!

This was the confetti when they sang 'Every Tear is a Waterfall'. The confetti were actually shaped differently depending on the song - some were stars, birds, etc.

The xlyo bands also added magic to the night. They light up in different colors and in different tempos, depending on the song. It really felt like I looking at a sky full of stars.

They also released huge balloons. It felt like a giant playground!

The set design, production, and every detail really made the entire night magical and surreal! It was priceless! BEST CONCERT and BEST NIGHT EVER!

This day was so tiring but it was worth it! <3
